Dr. Ugo Obibuaku is a Senior Lecturer in Law at University of Gloucestershire, where he has been inspiring the next generation of legal professionals since 2024. With over 15 years of diverse experience in human rights NGOs, academia, and legal consultancy, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his teaching and research.
A qualified legal practitioner with more than two decades of post-call experience, Dr. Obibuaku is a registered member of the Nigerian Bar Association. His career has included roles as a research consultant for various national and international organisations, such as the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Equal Rights Trust.
He has lectured extensively internationally and at the University of Exeter, University of Essex and University of Westminster.
Dr. Obibuaku employs a student-centered teaching approach that incorporates innovative pedagogical methods, including interactive learning, self-assessment, peer-led discussions, and the integration of technology in legal education. He is dedicated to equipping students with a strong theoretical foundation and practical employability skills, incorporating practitioner talks and formative exercises into his curriculum.
He teaches Constitutional Principles of EU Law, Public International Law, Cyber Law, Equity & Trust, and Employment Law, across both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Obibuaku actively supervises doctoral candidates.
Dr. Obibuaku engages in multidisciplinary research and his general research interests focus on the domestic observance and implementation of Human Rights with particular attention to socio-economic rights. He has conducted research and published in this area.
