Biography

I have worked in adult social care for over 30 years, starting off my career in residential units supporting adults with learning disabilities and enduring mental health issues. Once I qualified in 1999, I remained an adult social worker working in community teams for People with Learning Disabilities and Intermediate Care Team in Berkshire, and for the last 10 years I have been a social work lead in a locality team for Gloucestershire County Council.

I have been a practice educator for several years and have supported many social work students on placement as well as newly qualified social workers with their learning and development, and have enjoyed sharing my knowledge of direct practice. I started as a coach in practice in February 2024 and am really enjoying supporting the apprentice social workers navigate their way through the degree.

I am committed to supporting apprentice social workers with their wellbeing and I am really interested in supporting people to build their resilience through self-reflection.
