James Mainwaring-Taylor

Part-Time Academic Staff

I have a passion for all forms of visual art. In my work I embrace the exciting crossover between each genre to explore new ways of designing. I have worked in architectural practices for 30 years and specialise in 3d visualisation.

Biography

My career started as an architectural assistant for small and large architectural practices based in London. In this time, I worked on a wide range of projects including a timber visitors’ centre in the Forest of Dean, a windscreen sculpture by the artist Patrick Heron, and a snow dome leisure complex in Taiwan. Scale, detail, and artistic beauty have always been a driving force in my design. 3d visualisation allowed me to indulge in this artistry and so I became an architectural 3d visualiser.

I have been working as a 3d visualiser now for over 25 years. In this time I have produced 3d visualisations for all types of projects in both scale and complexity, from concept through to final high resolution stills and movies for planning approval and marketing.

I worked for RHWL Architects in London between 1997 and 2011. In 2011 I became a freelance 3d visualiser and secured many high-profile jobs from clients and architects in London and the South West.

I currently work as Senior Visualiser at Quattro design Architects in Gloucester.
