Dr Ibrahim Orhan

Lecturer in Psychology

I completed my PhD at City, University of London, specialising in attention, executive functioning, working memory, and motivation. My research examines their interplay in neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly focusing on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Biography

I graduated with distinction from Near East University with a BSc in Psychology, followed by an MSc in Cognitive Neuropsychology from Oxford Brookes University and a PhD from City University London. I am also a graduate member of the British Psychological Society.

I am a cognitive scientist focused on how biological, neuropsychological, and social factors influence thought and behaviour, especially in neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD. My research explores altered cognitive and motivational factors, particularly attention, executive functioning, working memory, and motivation, and their interactions in these conditions.

I have taught undergraduate and master’s level psychology courses, including biological psychology, cognitive psychology, and neuropsychology. I emphasise a student-centred approach, employing diverse teaching methods like workshops and inquiry-based learning. I design inclusive course materials that accommodate various learning styles.
