Rachel Jefferies

Senior Lecturer In Nursing (Adult)

I am currently a senior lecturer and module lead for Practice Based Learning 4 - Leading and Managing Care in Practice, a second-year practice module. This module equips students with the tools to assist them in becoming effective in leading and managing in practice.

Biography

I have worked at University of Gloucestershire for the last 7 years in the roles of Academic Subject Lead for Nursing and Academic Course Lead for the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing. I have held positions at UWE, where I started as a lecturer in clinical skills and previously worked in the NHS for 15 years.

I am interested simulated practice bringing creativity and passion to creating and implementing a learning environment that promotes motivation to learn, a sense of wellbeing, belonging and safety.

I also teach within the programme across the fields of nursing where modules are shared for clinical skills development. I also hold FHEA.

Teaching

Teaching pre- registration adult nursing students. Learning will be supported by face to face contact in selected master classes, workshops, seminars and simulation sessions within the university campus.

Research

The Picture of Pre-Registered Nurses Self-Assessed Health: A pilot study

Research Aims and Objectives:

To examine the feasibility of introducing self-assessment health and quality of health measurements to a nurse education curriculum.

To investigate pre-registered nurses self-assessment of health and quality of life, before and after a six-week introductory programme to nurse education.
