Sophie Pearce

Lecturer in Physiotherapy

Sophie is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Lecturer with 19 years experience as a physiotherapist. She has worked in the NHS and Private Practice providing treatment, advice and education on Musculoskeletal and Pelvic Health conditions.

Biography

Sophie studied at the University of Liverpool completing her studies in 2005. She then moved to Gloucestershire completing her Band 5 rotations at Gloucestershire Hospitals. She developed a keen interest into Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Pelvic Health physiotherapy where she focused working with these areas in Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General hospitals.

She moved into private practice to enable her to teach Pilates classes alongside the physiotherapy work. working at Nuffield Health, Cotswold Physiotherapy Centre and The Regency Clinic as well as running her own company Style Pilates and Physiotherapy. Over the years she participated in various teaching roles as part of her physiotherapy, teaching and supporting peers and students from UWE.

She began as a guest lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire then became a permanent member of the team in 2022.

Accreditation

Sophie has qualifications in Pelvic manual therapy, Acupuncture, Myofascial release, Lymphatic drainage and Sports massage.

Membership of professional bodies

Sophie is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Teaching & Research

Teaching

Sophie teaches mainly on musculoskeletal physiotherapy modules teaching how to assess spinal and peripheral joints in practical sessions as well as helping to run the In-house student musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinic.
