Rachel Johnston

Lecturer in Physiotherapy

I am a dedicated practitioner of physiotherapy with more than 16 years' clinical experience (10 in the NHS and 9 in cardio-respiratory tertiary centre care). I have a keen interest in health-related quality of life outcome measures examining treatment efficacy in respiratory disease.

Biography

I have five years’ band 7 experience in cardio-respiratory tertiary centre care within the NHS including within the PICU setting.

I have managed services including respiratory out-patients and have been privileged to work alongside many world renown practitioners in respiratory care.

I have presented at both national and international conference in the field of respiratory, and maintain a keen interest in health-related quality of life outcome measures examining treatment efficacy in respiratory disease.

Teaching & Research

Teaching

I teach on the Physiotherapy BSc and MSc course predominantly within the specialist area of cardiovascular respiratory.

Research

I have a keen interest in health-related quality of life outcome measures examining treatment efficacy in respiratory disease. I have previously undertaken research within asthma and non CF related bronchiectasis populations. More recently, I have been interested in the field of respiratory treatment approaches within the cerebral palsy pollution (GMFCS III-V) having been clinically involved with treatment in this patient cohort.
