I have always worked with people and been fascinated by the relationships and connections that we make. Psychology and Sociology at A Level opened my mind to other ways of thinking about people and the societies we live in. This led me to volunteering, then working to support children and young people with complex needs, and later to careers in Social Work and International Education.
Working with people collaboratively and empowering them to identify and build on their strengths is fundamental to my engagement with students. In our digital age, information can be found everywhere. How to question, analyse, and leverage that is vital to developing students who can enter the world as explorers, and not just passive travellers who consume knowledge unquestioningly.
My research focus is on Restorative Justice and Practices, and how success in these approaches can be evidenced within academia and in the field. My goal is to improve and expand these ways of working to improve lives and contribute to social development. I am interested in how individuals and organisations work within these spheres, the way processes and approaches interact across sectors, and the manner in which these becomes institutionalised.
