I started my career working for a political agency in Edinburgh before spending 20 years as a journalist, specialising in education and social affairs.
I’ve worked for the Houses of Parliament as a Communications Manager for a Shadow Minister, navigating the stormy waters of Westminster. I worked in the press team for the National Centre for Computing Education, driving up tech skills in schools across the UK during the pandemic, before joining the University to develop the BA (hons) Communications and Media.
I’ve been building relationships with industry experts to enhance the course and student experience. and continue to work as a communications and PR consultant, enabling me to keep my teaching current and industry-relevant. I’m interested in education, and technology and its impact on the communications industry and currently also work in a freelance capacity for BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.
