I qualified as a registered nurse from the University of Surrey in 2002 and have worked in a wide variety of settings across both health and social care. The majority of my clinical experience lies in care of the elderly and management and leadership.
As a lecturer and researcher, I am primarily interested in the transformational potential of higher education students, particularly for those whose pathway to HE has been less traditional, for example apprenticeship students. This is the focus of my current PhD research.
Registered Nurse: Nursing and Midwifery Council
Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE)
I have completed a piece of qualitative research into the management of clinical safety in care homes as part of my master’s and this is in the process of being submitted for publication. I am interested in continuing research into nursing in social care and across the interface between health and social care in the future.
