I have dedicated my career to working with and advocating for young children. After graduating as a teacher specialising in the Early Years phase, I gained experience in the Foundation Stage, Key Stages 1 and 2, and as a specialist teacher in the USA.
My passion for understanding the broader influences on early childhood led me to pursue a Master’s degree, where I explored the many facets of Early Childhood Studies and the importance of ensuring the best outcomes for children and their families. My PhD investigation into the lived experience of mature, professionally employed mothers with parental responsibility for primary-age children revealed a need for policy and practice to be reviewed to better acknowledge today’s evolving social context.
As a Forest School Leader, I am passionate about alternative learning approaches, particularly how Forest School can provide meaningful educational experiences for children who find traditional schooling challenging. I also work alongside my therapy dog, Dumble-Paws, using animal-assisted interactions to support visiting children’s communication and language development and enhance the well-being of University of Gloucestershire students.
My work reflects my commitment to inclusive, learner-centred education, ensuring that every learner, regardless of background or learning style, has the opportunity to thrive.

Previous research has been on Mother’s perceptions of support groups. Current PhD focus is a study of mature, professional mothers’ experience of motherhood and childcare to inform Early Years practice: an interpretive phenomenological analysis. Professional higher education focus is upon ECS graduate experiences of using their ECS degree within an international context.
