Gary Joynes Slater

Senior Lecturer In Games Art

Telephone:
My specialist area is image creation in both traditional and digital media and in a variety of styles from comic book to hyperrealistic. I now work predominantly in the children’s toy and entertainment sector, with occasional forays into grown-up design and advertising areas.

Biography

I have 40 years of experience as an illustrator supplying imagery for the Publishing, Design, Advertising, and Games industries. Clients and brands include Disney, Warner Bros, Hasbro Toys, Random House, Mojang, Activision, Winnie the Pooh, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Trolls, Transformers, My Little Pony, Call of Duty, Minecraft and so many more.

I started as an Airbrush artist illustrating shiny products for advertising and design clients and then moved into the digital world settling mainly into the children’s sector. I work predominantly in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and more recently Maxon’s ZBrush 3d sculpting program.

I have 20 year’s experience teaching both traditional drawing and painting as well as digital image-making skills.
