Key facts
No upfront tuition fees. You won’t have to pay any fees while you are studying; you can apply for a student tuition fee loan to cover the fees. This will be paid directly to the university. Find out more about tuition Fees for full-time undergraduate courses and PGCE courses.
You can also apply for a student maintenance loan to help towards your living costs up to £13,762 if you live away from home to study and up to £8,877 if you stay at home. You can apply for student loans from March. You do not need to wait for a confirmed offer of a place on a course.
Additional non-repayable grants may be available for students with dependents and for students with disabilities.
Living cost loans and grants will be paid to students in three equal instalments over the academic year – one at the beginning of each term.
You will only start to repay the loan in the April following graduation if you are in employment and are earning a salary over £25,000. You will repay 9% of your income above £25,000. For example if you earn £30,000 you would repay £37.53 per month
Each course can vary in price. Fees are explained on the individual course pages.

If you’re studying for 2, 3 or 4 academic years, the loan will be divided equally across each year of your course. The loan will be a contribution towards the costs of study and paid directly into your bank account. Whether the loan is used towards fees, maintenance or other costs will be at your own discretion.
