Disciplinary procedure for student matters

1 Allegation of misconduct with any reports from University Investigative Officer or Police to be referred to the University Secretary & Registrar (or nominee)

2. University Secretary & Registrar (or nominee) to refer to the Vice Chancellor – to ensure they are satisfied that there is a case for the student to answer

3. University Secretary & Registrar (or nominee) refers case directly to Disciplinary Committee (or 3b see below)

4 Student referred to a Disciplinary Committee to determine if any penalties should be imposed.

5. Student has Right to Appeal to Vice Chancellor. Appeals must be made in writing within 10 working days

or

3b. University Secretary & Registrar (or nominee) and another Senior Officer to interview the Student who may be accompanied by a friend or representative.

4 Student referred to a Disciplinary Committee to determine if any penalties should be imposed. (or 4b summary procedure, see below)

5. Student has Right to Appeal to Vice Chancellor. Appeals must be made in writing within 10 working days

4b Summary Procedure

If the student is found guilty of misconduct the University Secretary & Registrar (or nominee) may impose a penalty.
N.B. Student is unable to appeal any decision from the summary procedure

If student refuses summary procedures the student is referred to a Disciplinary Committee to determine if any penalties should be imposed.

5. As above, the student has Right to Appeal to Vice Chancellor. Appeals must be made in writing within 10 working days
