Attendance and engagement monitoring

The NMC and the University regulations will be covered in detail during
induction.

• Students will be required to sign into university sessions
• Students should attend all timetabled sessions
• The academic course leader will monitor attendance each month
• Failure to attend mandatory sessions (BLS and MH) will mean the student cannot attend placement
• Only hours worked in clinical practice will normally be counted towards placement hours.

Concerns about attendance

If there is a concern about student attendance the academic course leader will request the personal tutor meets with the student.

The student will be offered support by their personal tutor and signposted to a Student Centre

If concerns remain regarding attendance, the student will be asked to meet with the academic course leader.

The academic course leader and student will create an action plan to improve attendance.

Continuous non-attendance will result in referral to Fitness to Study policy which may result in university instigated withdrawal procedure.
