1-2-1 support from day one
Last updated: 15 May 2024
It’s no secret that we’re a close-knit community here at UoG – it’s what sets us apart from other universities. One of the ways students benefit from our community feel is the support they’re given from day one, like having personal tutors.
Here’s what we’ve been up to, to ensure our students continue to receive support when it’s needed most:
- Immediate switch to virtual appointments by a range of Student Services teams so that support for students could continue (inc. Counselling, Disability, Employability, Helpzones, Mental Health, Money Advice, Student Achievement, Wellbeing)
- Maintain mix of virtual and physical wellbeing support for students; with colleagues across Helpzones, Residential Support, Chaplaincy, Receptions and Libraries remaining ‘open’ ensuring that students can seek support on campus.
- Delivery of ‘boundaries training’ to various academic teams to better equip staff dealing with complex student issues.
- ‘Study Smart’ campaign launched – to help students better understand academic regs, and how they can access support.
- Maintained on-site and in-person support through Helpzones, Student Welfare team, Residential Support team and Mental Health & Wellbeing Advisers in accordance with restriction guidance, to ensure those students who required in-person support could access.
- Counselling workshops & mindfulness sessions delivered across campuses to encourage students to help manage their own wellbeing in differing ways to just conventional one-to-one appointments with advisers/therapists.
