Distilled to perfection

Last updated: 5 June 2024

Gloucestershire’s alcoholic offerings don’t begin and end with the finest beers, ales and ciders. The county is home to renowned distilleries, producing unrivalled gin and whisky.

If you want something done properly then do it yourself – at Sibling Distillery, they do just that. From the creation of their very own base spirit, right through to the gin bottling process, they do everything themselves at their Cheltenham based site.

The team at Sibling, which consists of two brothers and two sisters (hence the name), value tradition. But their gin is far from old fashioned. More than happy to push boundaries, their gin is the right balance of fresh ingredients prepared by hand and a vapour infusion far from ordinary – because the easy option doesn’t yield the best results.

Another of Gloucestershire’s distilling pioneers is Cotswolds Distillery. One of the first of its kind, Cotswolds flagship single malt whisky is rich, fruity and oh so easy to drink. Its balance of flavour and depth comes from the exceptional attention to detail given during distilling and the use of oak casks for maturation.

At Cotswolds Distillery, they don’t just produce whisky. Their gin is distilled with nine carefully-considered botanicals, creating a dry gin with an aromatic twist. The twist results in a rich and robust, award-winning gin. And because they don’t remove the essential oils produced in the distilling process, when tonic or ice is added to their gin, a unique pearlescent cloud is formed.

You can visit both distilleries for tour and taste sessions. Where you can get up close and personal with their outstanding spirits.
