Home to Harry Potter

The cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral were used to film scenes at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films, as was the nearby Forest of Dean which featured in the seventh movie and book. The county is also home to J. K. Rowling, who grew up and went to school in Tutshill.

Film buffs among you may have noticed Gloucester Cathedral in several other movie and TV show scenes. Perhaps in Mary Queen of Scots, Sherlock or even Doctor Who.

Other parts of the county have also weighed in on the action. Netflix’s Sex Education featured locations across the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. With the famous red and white house known as The Chalet, overlooking Symonds Yat.

And it doesn’t end there. We’ve had Bond, Bridget Jones, Alice in Wonderland, even zombies from post-apocalyptic horror film, 28 Days Later – the list goes on and on.
