Student letter requests

Last updated: 4 October 2024

To support your time as an international student in the UK, both during and after your studies at the University of Gloucestershire, there may be occasions when you need an official letter from the University to evidence your student status. For those on a Student visa, International Student Services provides a range of letters to meet the compliance checking requirements of external organisations.

Please note, letters that aren’t specifically linked to the terms of your Student visa can be generated directly from Student Records Online, e.g. enrolment confirmation letter, bank letter, and council tax letter. For all other letters please contact our Student Centres in the first instance.

The following table identifies the letters that can be requested from International Student Services, detailing the information they include and the purpose of each letter. Each letter can be requested through our online Microsoft Form – please click on the link below and log in using your University credentials to access the Form.

Please take care to answer all questions fully and accurately, as requests can only be actioned where the letter requested is appropriate to your circumstances and all relevant information has been correctly submitted.

We aim to process all valid letter requests within five working days, however during busy periods it may take slightly longer. Please avoid submitting duplicate requests, email reminders, or asking for an update, as this will limit our capacity to respond. Unfortunately we are not able to prioritise urgent requests or action letter requests submitted by email.

Due to security and email filters, duplicate requests will automatically be removed from the system.

All letters will be issued as an electronic pdf and emailed to your University account.

Letters can only be issued to currently enrolled students. No letter requests will be actioned after your final award has been confirmed and published, as you will then be deemed to have completed your programme – please refer to the subsequent email titled ‘Decision of the latest Award Board of Examiners’ to evidence your programme completion.

Proving your right to work to an employer

Work eligibility is contingent on visa status rather than student status – international students who hold a Student visa to study in the UK are subject to working restrictions set by the Home Office. As such, employers will need to conduct their own checks to verify that your current visa permits you to work and your work entitlement.

You’ll need to prove your right to work in the UK to your employer before you start working for them. In addition to any letters or documentation provided by the University, you should generate a right to work share code to forward to your employer.

You can apply for a share code online.
