VENUE CHANGE: This event will now be taking place at our Francis Close Hall Campus. This is due to live lab-based demos.

Some say Santa travels at the speed of light – but can we measure lightspeed with kitchen equipment? With the help of chocolate, and some things definitely not to be tried at home, Professor Adam Hart will explore and demonstrate the science of Christmas.

About this event, Adam says:

“My talk will be looking at some physics and chemistry with a Christmas theme – measuring the speed of light using chocolate, doing some flame tests, exploring colours and candles and the energy of food. It will mostly be physics and chemistry, with a sprinkling of biology in there too.”

Date: Friday 13th December
Time: 12.30pm – 2pm (1hr lecture and 30 mins Q&A)
Location: Francis Close Hall
Presenter: Prof Adam Hart
