Back to stories listingWhen Kate Arnold started UoG’s BA Creative Writing course as a mature student, it allowed her to focus on the thing she loves: writing poetry. Now her efforts have been rewarded with success, as her debut poetry collection Kicking at the Tombstones has just been published by Black Eyes Press.
Kate told us that it had all started just before Christmas of last year. “The owner of Black Eyes publishing house came to a gig we did just before Christmas and asked afterwards whether we had ever considered a collection of Dead Anyway lyrics. Obviously, although I’ve had poetry published in magazines, it had always been a dream of mine to have a collection published, so I jumped at the chance.
Artwork from local artists which we had used for covers of our releases have been included, and it’s lovely to be able to showcase their considerable talents too.”
