The Cotswold Listener

The Cotswold Listener: Your local talking newspaper logo

Aimed at people who are sight-impaired and living in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and the North Cotswolds, The Cotswold Listener is a free talking newspaper. It was established in 1976 by a group of volunteers, who undertook fundraising in order to get this initiative off the ground. The Cotswold Listener helps people who can no long access the written word due to a disability, so that they can stay in touch with events in their local community and remain informed about issues that matter to them.

Our students, who have been published in the 2023/24 Creative Writing Anthology, have recorded readings of their work for The Cotswold Listener and these recordings have been distributed to their listeners. This is a wonderful collaboration which both increases the reach of our students’ work and provides a fresh type of literary content for the people subscribing to this talking newspaper.
