Please note: your offer holder day will take place at Oxstalls Campus, but you’ll study at City Campus. Both campuses are in Gloucester and as part of your offer holder day, you’ll have the opportunity to tour City Campus.
Your schedule for the day is outlined below. Student ambassadors will be on-hand to help you find your way to the right session at the right time.

Pack your rucksack and join us on a hike through the wilderness. Learn how to use story, illustration and photographs to engage learners. Develop children’s sense of place and appreciation of the natural world, using a wordless picture-book.
22 March, Session 1 – Primary English – ‘Once Upon a Time’: the joy of children’s books
An enjoyable opportunity to engage with the kinds of children’s picture books you might wish to use in a primary classroom. We will discuss why an understanding of children’s literature is such an important aspect of training to be a primary teacher and explore some different forms of storytelling. You will also have the opportunity to plan a fun activity for young learners based on your choice of book.
22 March, Session 2 – Primary Design and Technology: bringing pictures to life!
Dive into the creative world of moving pictures and discover how to bring stories to life. This session introduces you to the art of designing and making moving pictures. Explore existing designs, develop technical skills, and create your won moving pictures to inspire learners. Learn how to spark imagination and engage children in critical thinking, problem-solving, and the appreciation of design.

2 March – Perception and illusion
Is seeing believing? This session will introduce some of the processes of object perception and spatial perception. What can happen when things go wrong, and how can our brains be fooled.
22 March – Decisions, decisions, decisions!
How do we make decisions? In this session, we will cover a seminal theory on decision-making; how and what emotions are implicated, and explore your decision-making.
Social Work
22 March only – Values and ethics in social work: what is the right thing to do?
Explore values and ethics considering how social workers are faced with daily challenges in making ‘the right decision’.
Working With Children Young People and Families (CertHE)
It’s not just Mars bars and table tennis.
Enjoy an interactive session that explores the role of the CYPF practitioner from pastoral support to youth and community work. We’ll discuss the skills required and values and attributes needed to work with children, young people and families in a variety of settings.
While offer holders take part in interactive sessions, guests can attend this Q&A session to find out more about UoG and ask questions about tuition fees and loans, accommodation options and admissions.
Enjoy a complimentary lunch in our Business School atrium.
On campus
Take an optional tour of the Oxstalls halls of residence. You’ll be shown round by a student ambassador who’ll tell you what it’s like to live on-campus and answer any questions you might have.
There will also be a selection of clubs and societies available on the day so you can find out more about student life outside of lectures.
Off campus
Blackfriars residence will be available to view. This mix of of en-suite rooms, townhouses and self-contained studios is located in Gloucester city centre, a 25 minute walk or short drive from Oxstalls.
Our state-of-the-art Sports Arena, which caters for many different sports, will also be open to view. It’s just a short walk from the main campus.
Free shuttle bus
There will be a free bus running from 2pm on the day that will take you between Oxstalls, Blackfriars, the Sports Arena, and back. It will be running every 20 minutes, with the final bus leaving Blackfriars to return to Oxstalls at 5pm.
By attending an offer holder day, you’ll have the opportunity to upgrade your conditional offer to make it unconditional. To accept your offer, head to the UCAS Hub and make your firm and insurance choices.

If you have time to spare, why not make your way into the centre of Gloucester and get a feel for this historic, vibrant city that you’ll call home.
It’s a 25 minute walk or short drive from Oxstalls and has some great options for shopping at the Quays, and plenty of places to eat and drink in Gloucester Docks.
