Everyman Theatre

The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham dates back to 1891 and is a much-loved local / regional theatre, which produces its own plays as well as receives plays touring the UK. It occupies an important role in the local community, with its wide array of outreach and education activities including youth theatre clubs. Its collaboration with University of Gloucestershire is well established and helps young playwrights to have a first opportunity to see their work on stage.

Our 2nd year students of Dramatic Writing get to spend a whole semester working from the Director’s Lounge at the Everyman Theatre, where they develop 20-minute plays which are then performed at the Studio as part of our annual showcase. The plays are directed by the Artistic Director Paul Milton and performed script-in-hand by professional actors, in front of a live audience. Every year this showcase is a sell-out and it provides fantastic experience of the theatre industry for our young playwrights.
