Cheltenham Poetry Festival
Cheltenham Poetry Festival offers an annual 10-day programme of exciting live literature events. As well as the spring programme, the festival celebrates the power of words throughout the year at readings, performances and workshops.
The founder and CEO is Anna Saunders, a University of Gloucestershire graduate in Creative and Critical Writing. The University sponsors the festival, and staff and students from the English Literature course take part in a great variety of ways, from internships to performances and projects. The festival is joyous and significantly enriches the English Literature course.

How does it work?
English Literature students receive free tickets to many of the Cheltenham Poetry Festival events and have opportunities to undertake internships such as poetry reviewer.
Staff from the Literature course have been cooperating with the festival around the major Ecopoetikon project, an online collection of Global South/Global North poetry together with a poetry community and workshops and events.
English Literature staff and students have enjoyed opportunities to perform their work, including particularly memorable performances by ecopoets Helen Moore and Helena Hookoomsing.
