Adfree Cities

Adfree Cities is a network of groups across the UK who are concerned about the impacts of corporate advertising on our health, wellbeing, environment, climate, communities and the local economy.

Staff from the English Literature course have been working with Adfree Cities to offer advice and run workshops on the persuasive techniques of the advertising sector.

There are opportunities for English Literature students to become involved in a range of events, projects and actions in different parts of the country.

A recent project that had a parliamentary launch in Westminster revealed the way that outdoor advertisements for unhealthy food target poorer communities and exacerbate pre-existing health inequalities.
