5 best Sunday Roast spots in Gloucestershire

Our top picks

The warmer months are coming, which means we’ve got to take advantage of the hearty Sunday lunches whilst it’s still cool and cosy.

We’ve rounded up the top places to enjoy a delicious Sunday roast in Gloucestershire, because we’ve had far too many burnt-to-a-crisp roast potatoes when we’ve tried to recreate our mum’s cooking in our uni halls.

The Swan – Cheltenham

Handily located on Cheltenham High Street, The Swan is a great place to grab a cosy roast. It’s a really relaxed vibe with log fires burning in the winter and a cute courtyard garden.

The mushroom and spinach filled pastry packs a flavour punch, and is one of our favourite vegan roast options in the county.

Turtle Bay – Cheltenham

A twist on a traditional roast, Caribbean restaurant Turtle Bay’s Reggae Roast offering has arrived in Cheltenham. Choose from beef, jerk chicken, pork belly or vegan jerk “chicken” – all served with roast potatoes, sweet plantain, a Caribbean dumpling and greens and LOADS of warming gravy.

Farmhouse Deli – Cheltenham and Gloucester

Head to this popular deli and bakery either on Cheltenham High Street or Northgate Street in Gloucester for a twist on a Sunday roast in the form of a Yorkshire pudding wrap.

Filled with your choice of beef, pork or turkey with all the trimmings, it’s the perfect light lunch that’s also budget friendly.

The Fountain Inn – Gloucester

A traditional English pub located just a stone’s throw from Gloucester Cathedral, The Fountain Inn is known for its hearty roast dinners.

Their Sunday Roast deal – two courses for £16 – is a firm favourite amongst locals and students alike.

Toby Carvery – Gloucester

Does anything beat a good old-fashioned Toby?! The nation’s favourite carvery has two branches in Gloucester, so you can get your self-serve roast at a restaurant of your choice.

With unlimited veg and lashings of their famous gravy, we’ve had many a hungover night-out debrief in Toby Carvery.
